2024 Bathroom Trend Report: Water-Saving Products Popular
Recently, the National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) released the "2024 Bathroom Trends Report." This report is composed of survey data completed by industry experts such as designers, manufacturers, remodelers, architects, etc., and provides a comprehensive introduction to residential Future trends in master bathrooms.

The report states that the primary bathroom is undergoing a revolution - becoming a major selling point, taking up space from other areas of the home and creating an expansive private retreat. Key trends include larger footprints, spa-like wellness elements, integrated smart technology and the use of nature, color and texture.

Increase the technological shower experience
The shower is a home spa. When asked about the most popular shower features, the top vote-getters were built-in seat showers (69%), handheld showers (66%), rain showers (61%), steam showers (51%) and body sprays ( 39%). Interestingly, when asked about control methods, touchpads (64%) outperformed pure hands (57%), indicating an increase in showering experiences that utilize technology.

Add beverage stations and refrigerators to bathrooms
Bathrooms now have beverage stations and refrigerators. Gone are the days of just bathing, a trend that was almost unheard of just a few years ago. In this year's survey, a significant number of respondents (21%) said they would be interested in adding a refrigerator to their primary bathroom to store drinks, medications, creams and cosmetics.

Green becomes the color of choice
Green overtook white as the color of choice. When asked about their preferred color trends for bathrooms, the majority of respondents (35%) said green was the preferred hue, followed by white (31%), blue (26%), gray (25%) and several others before color.

Increase shower area
Remove the tub to make the shower larger. The most popular bathroom renovation is to remove the tub to increase the shower area (56%), which outpaces other popular renovations such as removing a wall to increase the master bathroom's floor space (48%), connecting the bathroom to a closet or changing area (39%) and providing a separate enclosure for the toilet (35%).

Water-saving products are popular
When asked about trends over the next three years, they noted that water-saving and sustainable features will feature in alternative energy-efficient water heaters (51%), EPA WaterSense/low-flow toilets (45%), EPA WaterSense low-flow sink faucets (31%) and EPA WaterSense low-flow showerheads (30%) are popular. Notably, 16.5% of respondents said that within three years, the bathroom sink drain pipe will enter the toilet tank for flushing. Only 14% of respondents said that none of these sustainability options would be popular.

The most popular shower floors are patterned tiles
Patterned installations are the most popular type of shower flooring. Installing tiles in various pattern designs (e.g. hexagonal, herringbone, herringbone) is considered the most popular shower flooring option, overtaking large format tiles (37%), pebbles and stones (36%), slabs and solid surfaces ( 28%) and round or square mosaics (28%).

Incorporate wallpaper into your bathroom design
Designers cited wallpaper as the best way to incorporate new colors into the bathroom, receiving 50% of the votes. This is followed by cabinets and vanities (49%), wall paint (36%), art (31%) and bathroom floors (27%).

Apply integrated intelligence technology
Topping the list with 32% of those surveyed citing integrated technology as the biggest change in bathroom trends over the next three years, designers are turning to smart systems and mobile app-controlled features for everything from heated floors to mirrors and lighting. , creating a more personalized and customizable experience.
