How to Adjust Soft Close Toilet Seat
A lot of people love to have the comfort of a soft close toilet seat. Most toilets today come with a soft close seat and lid, which prevents the lid and seat from slamming shut when you get up. These types of toilets are great because they provide a much quieter bathroom experience, while still allowing you to close the toilet lid quickly. However, if the soft close mechanism is not properly adjusted, it can cause the seat and lid to close slowly or not at all, which can be very annoying. To ensure that your soft close toilet seat is operating correctly, you should adjust it as needed. This article will detail how to adjust a soft close toilet seat.
Before you begin, make sure to turn off the water supply to the toilet. If the toilet is still connected to the water supply, it could cause damage to the soft close mechanism when you adjust it. Once the water supply is disconnected, you can begin the adjustment process.
First, identify the adjustment screw. On most toilets, the adjustment screw will be located near the top of the toilet, near the seat and lid. If you cannot find it, refer to your toilet’s service manual to see where it is located.
Once you have located the adjustment screw, carefully loosen it using a flathead screwdriver. When you loosen the screw, the seat and lid will become slightly looser, which will make it easier to adjust.
Next, you will need to adjust the seat and lid tension. To do this, you will need to use a wrench. Begin by gently turning the wrench clockwise to increase the tension, or counterclockwise to decrease the tension. It is important to keep in mind that you should not adjust the tension too much, as this could cause damage to the soft close mechanism or the toilet seat itself.
Once you have adjusted the tension to desired levels, you can secure the adjustment screw. Using a flathead screwdriver, carefully tighten the adjustment screw till it secure.
Finally, turn the water supply back on and test out the toilet seat. If it is still not operating as desired, repeat the above steps until it is adjusted correctly.
Adjusting a soft close toilet seat is an easy process. Although you may need to adjust it more than once, if you follow the steps above, you should be able to easily get the seat and lid functioning correctly.
